Development of the installation / performance etc.
Our artistic approach
The multiplicity of approaches was taken into account, such as theater, text, photography, site-specific, multimedia. The reuse and promotion of replicable possibilities were decisive in defining the route, blending the theme of water with political and social realities to promote a thought-provoking moment.
The process took into account the various steps of the Le Cake project itself, the local context of ExQuorum, the contributions of experts and the extensive collaboration of the other project partners.
The site-specific, devising and multi-disciplinary approach aimed to promote reflection and awareness of nature, humanity, global management and global and local impact.
Ecological considerations
The ecological topic in our piece
Both the stations (performance and intimate installation) took into consideration the impact and importance of water on the ecosystem, expanding on numerous topics, such as pollution, geopolitical impact, agriculture, average sea level, drought, resource management, sustainability, economics, environmental migration.
With this proposal, the aim was to provoke and unsettle the audience, as well as to inform and provide analytical training for those who attended. They were designed to reach different audiences, such as adults, teachers (who can align this topic with other subjects), children and young people.
At station 2, a theme was explained in order to discover and get in touch with a reality; at station 1, a scenario of the end of water and probably of humanity was proposed. The idea is to raise questions: what now? What can I do?
Aspects of sustainability in the way we prepared the performance`
Yes, sustainability was a core principle in the preparation and execution of the performance and preparation. The materials (fabrics, costumes, props) were either reused or repurposed, provided by Consol Theatre. There were used second-hand clothing and sustainable practices, such as recovering materials from a previous finished installation (Água Lda), so as not to waste new materials, reducing the environmental impact.
The technical aspects of the installation were also designed with sustainability in mind, reducing the amount of equipment as much as possible, using only what is strictly necessary.
These decisions were framed within the entire course and concern of the Le Cake project, which emphasized the need for sustainable practices.
