Description of the performance
The performance is divided into several parts that follow one another. Each stage was presented in English and translated into German by a theater worker from the Gelsenkirchen theater for the German speaking audience (grammar school children).
In order to repeat this sequence, two athletes or two actors are needed who are available to lend themselves to the demonstration and who have a character aimed at pedagogy, to relate in an empathetic way with the group of spectators.
Scene #1: Opening – “Popular Italian Song”.
Short introduction in English, translated into German
An actress sings a children’s song, a song that could be used to put a child to sleep, the song is then sung in a “warm” way.
This scene is used as an introductory element, which does not require advance explanation and places the audience in a delicate transition, an introduction to the work demonstration.
Scene #2: “Presentation of the two actors and the research work done for CAKE. Ecology sustainability, virtuous examples”
Short introduction in English, translated into German
Here we talked about the work of the two actors, not only theatrical, but also research, and we presented how they reach the FREEZCO company works, the use of solar panels to transform water into ice.
This scene is used as an introductory element to the theme of sustainability – Le Cake project.
Scene #3: “Through Theatrical techniques and sport.”

Scene #4: “A theatrical scene can be set up following the hot-cold principle and not in a psychological way .”

This scenes are used as more strictly theatrical examples linked to the hot/cold opposition
Scene #5: “The Italian opera .”
Short introduction in English, translated into German
This scene is used as an example of a very cold and technical work, as opera singing requires and a sort of warmth that we see simultaneously stirring in the actor’s body.
Scene #6: Video art “the ice actors”
Short introduction in English, translated into German
Artistic video based on ice cubes movement
Short film of about 3 minutes, one dedicated to children, with the text of a scene from the film Frozen, one dedicated to adults with the text of a German theatrical production of Hamlet.
To do this we recorded and became a sort of character that we could use in an innovative cinematographic technique. On this video material we have created two artistic products

Methodological point #1
The description of Hot&cold work demonstration, the total of this work process, in its articulation, allowed a series of important reflections man and environment, transforming this relationship into: man is the environment.
This work process is a sort of incarnation of a theme by the actors, in this case: ecological, environment and sustainability.
This method allows one to build a work process that tries to avoid the wear of the words used to describe themes that are continuously debated and that over time risk distancing the public from the center of the problem.
By bringing those words into the actor’s work and proposing a visible work process, it is believed that we can contribute to refreshing the theme and making it accessible to both an adult and children’s audience.
The process can be used for any activity that concerns environmental sustainability in particular and in general for any activity of reflection on a concept.
