#4 LeCAKE Ceremony

(Art)directors and Young Ambassadors of the Consol Theater and La Transplanisphère designed, developed and presented an interactive performance called LeCake Ceremony, which enables the audience to engage in a joyful exchange about ecology. This article presents the main characteristics and the methodology of LeCake Ceremony and outlines the artistic development of the performance.

Authors: Eva Hausberg, Emeline Chaumereuil, Bruno Freyssinet, Georg Kentrup, Yana Klisovska

The LeCake Ceremony combines three dynamic elements:

  1. Sharing an edible cake during the ceremony fosters a sense of community.
  2. A card game exploring ecological topics such as water, air, and pollution.
  3. Creative expression through visual art and theatre, encouraging participants to reflect and contribute their ideas.

On the following pages, you will find a detailed script and setup guide to help anyone carry out the ceremony, a summary explaining the creative ideas behind the methodology and insights into how the ceremony engages the audience on ecological themes. We also included key “methodological points” highlighted in grey boxes for easy reference.
