Colour of Waiting is a simple and frugal installation ; it is about being there. Simple and reused material was part of the process, material that can be touched ; cards by the hands, pillows and carpets to sit on, pieces of clothes, borrowed from the Theater storage.
It was important that the space was an “in-between”, a place of passage ; as going from one shore to the other, being somehow transformed by the crossing. It was important as well that one side would be a window, for the contemplative exigency ; be able to see an outside, where the landscape changes by wind blowing, people passing, rain falling. It is like a moving painting, with multiple fronts / grounds, for the eye to switch.
The installation is exhibited as a discrete invitation. People see it, but it is not exuberant. Colors are soft, the space is made comfortable, the mental message sent is not to feel forced, neither esthetically nor by action. Simply welcomed and free.
